Northern Territory, Cold Winter Days

Wowe, that is a long time between updates.

It has been a pretty frosty winter in Melbourne with a lot of chilly days through June and July.

We did a trip to Darwin (me the misses, my sister and her partner) near the end of June for a few weeks to try and break up the cold weather.

About a week before we were about to leave I got a really rogue cold, but thought I could smash through it in a few days.

The coughing kept getting worse and worse so I went to the GP to get antibiotics and steroids to try and make the flight up to Darwin. They also swabbed me and it turned out to be pneumonia.

I did make the flight in the end but the first week was a bit of a write off for me, by the second week of the holiday I was feeling better.

The Northern Territory is such an incredible place, very different to Melbourne in terms of the vibe.

There is a lot of hustle and bustle in the Melbourne CBD and a lot of focus on money and status.

Up there everyone is a lot more relaxed and chilled out about life in general.

We stayed with my sisters partners family as well, which was really nice. I have always found it is so much nicer to stay with someone living in the area, as you really get to know the place.

Whilst we were there it was Firecracker night, where for one night everyone is allowed to light as many fireworks as they want! (and it gooooes all night long lol).

The waterholes are also so sick to swim in even though I was a little scared about the crocs lol (even though the Government say it is safe to swim).

We also did a really cool kayaking trip through Katherine Gorge which was a lot of fun.

After a few weeks up north we returned to the Melbourne frosty weather!

We have also done a bit more planning for our UK trip.

We were initially thinking of living in Bristol as it has a nice small town feel and looked a bit cheaper compared to London.

But we realized we would have to buy a car in Bristol and the job market for me looked a little scarce.

So we have decided to aim for London! Currently looking like we will live in Clapham (like every other Aussie in London lol).

I am pretty bloody excited for this trip, but also nervous. I know a lot of people move overseas and work, but as a pretty shy and low risk taking guy it is a big step.

I think it will be a great challenge though and cannot wait to see how it goes!
