There are good things about my office gig…

The hours aren’t too bad…

Most of the people I work with are pretty nice as well…

Some of the work is pretty interesting…

But what I cannot get my head around is the lack of passion and purpose.

I feel like most people working office gigs (myself included) are rocking up to punch the clock and as long as the paycheck hits the bank account its happy days!

This creates a mixture of feelings of guilt and frustration!

I have often wondered if this is prevalent a lot more in Australia (Melbourne and Sydney).

Because our property prices are so high, we need a big mortgage and does that stop us from taking risks?

Maybe I am expecting too much from a job, but surely some people jump out of bed in the morning for their jobs?

My current gig is a bit grim as well because not too many people get promoted so there is no real drive or incentive to put in a bit more effort.

I am pretty excited to head to the UK at the end of the year as I have been doing this type of gig for about four years now and think I need to try a different type of work.

I think it’s good for the soul to try some new things and go on some adventures!

As I have lived in Melbourne my whole life I am probably a bit too comfortable here and need to get out of my comfort zone!

We want to leave in January of next year though, so it is a pretty long time to be demotivated 😂

A real positive about this job has been a 3 day negotiation course we did. It was in the city and you stayed overnight and I really enjoyed it.

They basically put you in tricky commercial situations with other people from work and you had to negotiate, it was really interesting to be a part of.

I also went to the Melbourne Comedy Festival this month and you do forget how good this city is!

We have many different events in the city and it has a great relaxed vibe!

The main goal for the rest of the year is to keep saving up cash for the move to the UK and buying a few shares (VAS and AFIC).
